FLAT BARS
The two main types of Flat Bars are hot rolled flat bars and cold rolled flat bars. Hot-rolled flat bars are formed by rolling red-hot steel billets until they reach the desired widths and thicknesses. This process results in a finished product that is often slightly rounded on either side due to the rolling process. Cold-rolled flat bars are formed by passing hot-rolled stock through rollers at room temperature until it reaches the desired widths and thicknesses. This process results in a finished product that is much more precise than hot rolled stock due to its lack of imperfections caused by heat treatment.Flat bars offer several benefits over other types of metal building materials because they are lightweight yet strong enough to provide reliable structural support without compromising on aesthetics. They can also be easily cut or bent into shape for added convenience when constructing custom frames or other components for a project. Moreover, many grades of metal used in flat bars are corrosion-resistant which means they can withstand even the harshest weather conditions without rusting over time.
Flat bars offer an array of benefits that make them an ideal choice for both home improvement projects as well as larger-scale commercial construction projects alike. They provide reliable structural support while still being lightweight enough to be easily manipulated into any shape needed without compromising on aesthetics or functionality.
The main difference between a flat bar and a plate is the thickness. Flat bars are typically thinner than plates, usually less than an inch thick. Plates are generally thicker, ranging from several inches to several feet in some cases. Flat bars are also more easily bent & machined than plates, making them ideal for certain types of fabrication.
